March 8 to March 12, 2021 Coding Update

AdChoiceTV News — The Number Coding Scheme in Metro Manila and Calabarzon for the Second Week of March 2021 is still suspended as per MMDA. But Truck Ban will be implemented on all major roads like Edsa, C5 etc. So for those truck drivers (6 wheels up) you are prohibited to use Major Roads on your ban hours.

Meanwhile, Makati City will still implement coding scheme but with certain exemptions. Meaning if you are travelling alone, you can’t use your car on your number coding day but if you are travelling with someone or more then you are exempted from the coding scheme.

Metro Manila is the only region in the Philippines under General Community Quarantine which might be lifted soon as vaccine has been rolled out in the region.

Despite of the Covid-19 vaccine roll out, Metro Manila is seeing a spike in Covid-19 infections as more transmissible variants of the coronavirus spread amid government efforts to revive a stalled economy.

In recent weeks, the Health Ministry has been reporting more than 2,000 daily infections across the Philippines. On Sunday (March 7), it reported 3,276 new Covid-19 cases.

Cases in Metro Manila – the capital region that is home to over 13 million people – rose to 1,025 a day last week from 721 the previous week, hitting the average levels recorded in July last year when hospitals were swamped with patients.

MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos confirms to AdChoiceTV News that the Metro Manila mayors agreed to “temporarily suspend” the reopening of operations of cinemas, movie houses and arcades.

Abalos said the decision was made by the Metro Manila mayors even before the four-hour meeting Saturday night. The decision was due to the spike of COVID-19 cases across the region.

At present, the Philippines is experiencing the second-worst Covid-19 outbreak in South-east Asia after Indonesia, with close to 600,000 cases and over 12,500 deaths.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said on Sunday that a task force supervising efforts to roll back the local Covid-19 outbreak would consider this latest surge in deciding whether to further ease restrictions next month.
