LA UNION (AdChoiceTV News) — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a maritime incident involving an aircraft with tail number, RP – C8230 that crashed at the vicinity waters off Caba, La Union at around 11:30 a.m. today, 26 May 2021.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), they recovered the body of 25-year-old student pilot at the incident area.

He was immediately brought to the Caba Municipal Health Office where he was declared dead by the attending physician.
The body of the student pilot, a resident of Paligui, Apalit, Pampanga, is now at the Mapanao Funeral Service in Aringay, La Union.

Deployed PCG personnel led by Commander Alois Morales of the PCG Station La Union assisted in retrieving debris of the aircraft which sunk at approximately 300 meters away from the shoreline.

Meanwhile, the PNP coordinated with Police Staff Sergeant Leo Montemayor of the Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) for further investigation about the aircraft involved in the maritime incident.

As of 03:30 p.m. today, the PCG continues to assist in conducting area security at the crash site while investigation is ongoing.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines says a P-2010 aircraft (RP-C8230) crashed today in Bauang, La Union, killing its 25-year-old student pilot who was on a solo cross-country flight.

The pilot was a student of First Aviation Academy in Subic.
CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board investigators have been dispatched to determine the cause of the accident.
Per its flight plan, the flight departed Iba airport in Zambales, en route to La Union & Lingayen airports, before it returns to Iba.

Meanwhile, AdChoiceTV News sought comment from First Aviation Academy but they said they will issue formal statement later today or early tomorrow.
