AdChoiceTV News — Vice President Leni Robredo has completed Step 2 Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced on Tuesday.
The PSA said Robredo completed Step 2 Registration on Monday morning in Magarao, Camarines Sur, one of the select municipalities in the 32 priority provinces for PhilSys registration.
Step 2 Registration involves the capture of the registrant s biometric data such as their fingerprints, iris scans, and front-facing photograph.
Robredo finished the process in about 12 minutes “without technical difficulties after queuing with other local registrants,” the PSA said.
Step 2 Registration began last January and continues to roll out on a gradual, small-scale basis in the priority provinces, the PSA said. As of April 30, a total of 6,378,695 registrants have completed Step 2 Registration.
The PhilSys portal for pilot online Step 1 Registration was launched last April 30 but was marred by “technical difficulties.” The PSA apologized for it.
Under Step 1, the PSA will collect the 10 demographic information — name, gender, birthplace and birth date, blood type, address, citizenship, marital status, cellphone number, and email address — from the targeted registrants.
The final step of PhilSys registration will involve the issuance of the PhilSys Number (PSN) and the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card.
“The PSN is a randomly generated number and will serve as a permanent identification number for every registrant used for digital transactions,” the PSA said.
PSA partnered with PHLPost for the delivery of the PSN and PhilID to successful registrants.
