AdChoiceTV News — Another community pantry has opened in support to the initiative that started in Maginhawa, Quezon City. This time, it was put up outside Metro Manila.
“We have community groceries available in front of our office. Para sa lahat po ito na nangangailangan at para sa mga kaibigan natin na may sobra ay maaari din i-drop off ang kanilang tulong,” Ja Abdel said on Friday.
The community pantry is located at LB Grove, Batong Malake, Los Baños, Laguna.
This is an initiative by me and my husband to give back to our community,” Abdel told AdChoiceTV News.
According to Abdel, they have received around P30,000 worth of donations so far.
We receive a lot of donations from friends and strangers. We saw the initiative (in Maginhawa) and want to help din,” she added.
Meanwhile, The P. Noval Community Pantry in Sampaloc, Manila, is also inspired by the recent initiative in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City, in hopes of helping the community amid the worsening pandemic.
Toots Vergara, who also uploaded the photo on Facebook, said that his family and friends helped him in setting up their version of the community pantry and that after a while, anonymous people dropped off some items and even donated money for their project.
Among the goods that are available in the said community pantry are rice, canned goods, and vegetables.
Vergara looks forward to sustaining the project as long as they can be of help to others, and he also encourages everyone to lend a helping hand during these tough times.
Tumulong ayon sa kakayahan [at] ang pagtulong ay hindi naman nasusukat sa dami ng [iyong] itutulong. Keep on inspiring others and pay it forward,” Vergara said.
